I was born in Cascais, Portugal, in 1981. I’m a dedicated and passionate husband and father. But to tell you the truth my first passion was photography.
I’ve discovered photography throughout my academic life, at the Professional School of Communication and Image (EPCI). I found my inspiration in Henri Cartier-Bresson and James Nachtwey’s “Inferno”. Their work was therefore decisive to embrace photojournalism as a full time profession.
In June 2003 I started an internship at the daily news “Diário de Notícias” and later I was invited to join the team of “O Jogo”, a sports newspaper. In 2006 a new challenge came up and I started to work for “Semanário Económico”, a weekly economic newspaper. In 2009, I joined the photography team of “Diário Económico”, up to today.
In 2013 I was challenged to photograph a friend’s wedding. They were looking for a different angle, a different perspective than the traditional wedding photographers could deliver, combined with the discretion of a photojournalist. And a new interest is born: to capture unique and important moments in other people’s lives.
Since then invitations poured in to photograph weddings as well as family moments involving couples, pregnant women and family portraits… My passion for photography became a constant process of discovery.
